MGAwarenessMonth has just come to an end, but awareness and support for Myasthenia Gravis remains important. The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America recently shared moving patient stories that remind us how this rare neuromuscular autoimmune disease impacts the lives of those affected:
Myasthenia Gravis brings extreme fatigue and exercise-induced muscle weakness as impulses from the brain are blocked by antibodies before they reach the muscles. This can make it difficult to see, swallow, walk, breathe and perform many everyday activities. The disease can affect anyone, regardless of age or gender.
Although there is no cure for MG, the symptoms can be alleviated through various treatments. Let's continue to raise awareness of MG and support those affected - their strength and perseverance deserve our recognition and support!
